I’ve been to “Barca” many times. It’s one of the weirdest and coolest cities in Europe. Where most other cities, have symmetric architecture, Barcelona seems to have been designed on an acid trip! Some of the most stunningly beautifully architected buildings in Europe, can be found in Barcelona.
Believe me or not, but that thing in the picture for this blog, is actually a Christian Cathedral. Gaudi was like the Picasso of architecture. His weirdness has never been matched, and his buildings are amongst some of the most stunningly beautiful buildings ever created on this Earth.
And believe me, you haven’t partied, before you’ve done “La Rambla”. It’s just one of those streets, where you simply might end up never getting home from … 😉
In fact, if you’re a System Developer, a nice introduction to “Barca” is to attend Microsoft’s “TechEd”. Which usually is held in Barcelona. It’s basically a week of partying, with intellectual education during the day. I’ve been to TechEd many times. Once I even had a booth there, promoting my Ajax libraries. Barca is just simply one of those cities you *must* see before you die! However, don’t make the mistake of calling the people of Barcelona for “Spaniards”. They’re from Catalonia, and they’re freakin’ proud of that fact. Spaniards are considered malicious conquerors and imperialists in Catalonia … 😉
Just like I am no Norwegian, but a North Norwegian. Believe me, there is a HUGE difference!
